"Denali" means "The High One" in Athabascan (the tribe native to the region), and it is most appropriate for the highest peak in North America. Well, we woke up Thursday (September 2) to incredibly clear skies, and decided to drive into the Park. We had resigned ourselves to the fact that we were probably part of the "70%" club; that is, the percentage of visitors to the Park that do not see Denali. However , eight miles down the road we were rewarded with a vision of it! We could see it all day, up to 100 miles away..... Outside Talkeetna
This began as a tale of two friends traveling, photographing and writing about going to Alaska in 2010. It became a much longer and ongoing story.
Why were they in Colorado Springs instead of Boulder or Breckenridge? They were so adorable.
